Training at Schlötter: Shaping the future together

The growing shortage of skilled workers is a major challenge for many companies in the plating industry. Therefore, Schlötter is committed to promoting its own young talent and is investing sustainably in high-quality training. Currently, 20 trainees from various professional fields are training at Schlötter. Germany’s well-known dual vocational training system combines practical on-the-job experience in a company with theoretical education at a vocational school. This close integration ensures that trainees gain hands-on skills and solid technical knowledge. Schlötter’s trainees are laying the foundation for their professional future as chemical laboratory assistants, chemical technicians, surface coating technicians, industrial clerks, warehouse logistics specialists, IT specialists for system integration, and, from 2026, also materials testers.

A key factor in the success of the training programme is our dedicated team of trainers. Through their experience, dedication, and enthusiasm, our trainers foster an environment where knowledge transfer, personal growth, and motivation go hand in hand. One such trainer is Florian Keck, Logistics and Training Manager, who recently became the first person ever to complete an advanced training course to become a training expert (IHK) at the IHK Stuttgart. This pilot training programme includes modules such as legal aspects of training and the creation of company training plans. Participants also benefit from exchanging ideas within a dynamic network of trainers. This additional qualification enables Florian Keck to provide even better support for our trainees, helping them on their way to becoming well-trained young professionals.

In addition, the company opens further opportunities for its trainees to expand their horizons. Schlötter has for several years offered internships abroad at its Irish sister company, Schlötter Ireland DAC near Dublin. These internships help trainees improve English language skills, get to know colleagues at other locations, and develop valuable intercultural skills—competences that are increasingly important in a globalised working world.

With our modern, future-oriented training concept, we aim to provide young people with a solid professional foundation and open up long-term prospects for them. We are convinced that today’s training is tomorrow’s strength.

We look forward to continuing to promote talent and shaping the future together.
