International Youth Day 2025 – Training at Schlötter: Quality, Opportunity and Support

To celebrate International Youth Day (August 12), Schlötter is focusing on youth and their targeted, high-quality and future-oriented training.

Schlötter is a market leader in the German electroplating and surface technology industry – and as a company with a global outlook, we provide exceptional vocational training: technical foundation,
personal support, and practical application.

Structured career entry

Just like surface finishing, first impressions count. And Schlötter strives to make an immediate strong impact. And who better than trainees themselves to appraise it? Arijan Kabashi and Lara Lehle (apprenticeship industrial sales management assistants, first year) observed:

“We enjoyed a warm welcome from day one, with a great overview of the company and everything we needed. It was really professional and super motivating. The training support is attentive and focused. Our questions and observations – both technical and organizational – are given thoughtful and helpful responses.”

Individual-focused support

Schlötter’s approach prioritizes further education and training, covering issues such as chemical safety, freight handling, and IT skill sets. And trainees are encouraged to forge their own path by taking personal responsibility. Anton Weißenburger and Julian Wahl – chemistry lab technicians (apprenticeship year two) – explain:

“Our suggestions for related sessions are usually adopted by the training team to ensure our continual learning and growth. We can perform numerous experiments ourselves, with assistance at hand when needed. This individual-focused training is supportive and beneficial.”

Variety and international experience

Schlötter’s training embraces a 360° approach that unites theory and practice: rotating between R&D, production, purchasing, sales, and electroplating. Xaver Schweizer (apprenticeship as surface coating technician, year one) is full of praise: “We work directly with the research team, and are often the first to test new products at
scale.”

A popular highlight is internship opportunities at Schlötter’s subsidiary in Ireland. “All expenses are covered, and everything is well organized with local contact and 24/7 support. Trainees even help plan the timing and length of stays. Internships give professional experience, promote personal growth, and provide real-life insights.”

Value-based training

Trainees’ contributions are truly appreciated. “We are welcomed as equal and valued team members, our views are heard, taken on board, and we’re given real opportunities to grow.”

Mr. Keck – head of training and apprenticeships – summarises that approach: “We’re shaping our future professionals through high standards and an enjoyable training experience. We work together as equals, dialogue flows in both directions, not just from trainer to trainee.

Schlötter apprenticeships – the perfect start

To celebrate International Youth Day, we wish to express thanks to all our past, current and future trainees. Schlötter`s apprenticeship programme is an investment in people, in quality, and in a future built on clear vaues, professionalism and opportunity.
